About me
Eric Jose Mendoza is a Mexican-American versatile tenor who frequently performs in the USA and in Mexico. He finished his studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with an emphasis in pedagogy and performance. He's a member of the national music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha. For several years Mr. Mendoza lived in Mexico, there is where his passion for music and singing started while attending the institute of arts in Hidalgo. He also attended the private music institute "ARS" where he stood out as the best student.
Mr. Mendoza has a strong passion for his culture and for Music Education. He serves as an advocate for immigration rights and bringing music to communities in need. For the past couple of years, he's been back to the USA actively teaching and performing, his fervent performances have earned him several awards. He has been a recipient of full scholarships to the opera programs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Italy and Spain during the summer through the famous annual "Classical Singers Competition" that has resulted in frequently in Chicago and Boston. Mr. Mendoza has also performed with the Choir of the Chicago Symphony under the direction of Maestro Ricardo Muti.
Mr. Mendoza has given recitals and concerts in his university community, the Chicago's cultural center, the Mexican consulate in Chicago, "La casa cultural Latina", Detroit Institute of Arts, and in the celebration of Patriotic Festivities in Detroit, Mi and Chicago, iL. During the summer of 2018 he was in Europe giving a concert sponsoring the music Mexican classic in Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
His previous operatic and musical theatre experiences include: Riley/Hortensio from Kiss me Kate, Chino from West Side Story, Snout from Midsummer Night's Dream, Don Ottavio from Don Giovanni, Alfred from Die Fledermaus and Monostatos from Die Zauberflöte.
